Getting to Portland

By Air: Just 20 minutes from downtown, Portland International Airport (PDX) has earned awards for demonstrating that large-scale airports can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Currently 16 passenger airlines serve PDX, with direct and non stop service to more than 100 cities worldwide.

Getting from the airport to the Portland Marriot
There are a variety of ways to get from the airport to the Portland Marriot:

  • Use a shuttle service such as Blue Star. The Blue Star WASHTO conference rate is $14; roundtrip is $24. Call (503) 249-1837 for more information.
  • Try Portland’s light rail system, the MAX. It travels from the airport to downtown in 20-30 minutes. It’s about an eight-block walk from the closest downtown MAX station to the hotel.
  • Or use one of the many other ground transportation options like taxies and town cars.

By Train: Portland Union Station is served by three scheduled Amtrak intercity passenger trains. The Amtrak Cascades is a convenient link to the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. The Coast Starlight operates daily, connecting the West Coast's largest cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. Amtrak's Empire Builder begins in Portland and heads east to Chicago with stops at the following destinations and more: Spokane, Whitefish, Glacier National Park, Minot, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee.

It’s a 10 minute taxi ride from Union Station to the Portland Marriot.
